The day started at 7.30 with breakfast as usual. We usually have some kind of porridge, some toast, eggs and tea. We started the trek at 8 and visited a viewpoint where you could for example could see Mount Everest, Mount Ama Dablam and Lhotse. We also went so a museum telling the stories of the Sherpa people including all sherpas that have summited Everest. After that we began walking to or goal for the day, Tengboche. The trek was easy at the beginning with flat walk and just a little bit going up and down. There are a lot of trekkers that are going the same way as us, including the familiar caravans of Yaks and porters carrying gods to the higher villages. A break for tea and a cinnamon bun in the sun was nice. It then began going down. At the bottom of today’s trek, we stopped one hour for lunch. No one of us was quit hungry today, so we just had some soup. Then, it began going up again. For 1.45 we just walked up and up and up, approx. 500m. It was tough!! We arrived at Tengboche at 14.45. We got our rooms, changed some clothes, and then visited the local monastery. All people staying at the lodge is spending their time in the “dinner room”, which is heated, before going to their cold rooms. In here it is approx. 25 C, but in the rooms, a LOT colder!
We all say hello to our loved ones!
