Descending down to Dole!!
After a wise discussion last evening, it is determined that Cameron and Pasang will depart in the morning from Goyko and make for Machermo. I hope to reach the peak of Gokyo Ri with Tendi. “Ri” in the sherpa language can be defined as either potato or peak. Another 5am chilly start with headlamp and assorted accoutrement prepared. It is a far steeper pitch than Kala Pattar. This mother of a mountain almost breaks me but with dogged determination I summit the(Potato peak) of GOKYO RI (5357m) and give the victory sign to a golden bouddha whose placement indicates the zenith of the mountain. The clear morning views of Everest, Pumori and Nuptse are staggering.
Alison and Tendi Top of the Gokyo
Descending from Gokyo, I follow Tendi’s quick steps as we blitz past lakes, cairns, ducks, trekkers gasping for air and yaks burdened with loads equaling heavily breathing. Team CAH 50 is successfully reunited in Machermo over tea and Tibetan bread!

Over the next several hours we descend to Dole, for a total day’s elevation change of 1250 meters. We are spent. June, it so reminds me of the Kili night-day-night exploit. The air may be richer in oxygen at 4110m but we are too exhausted to appreciate it. Dozing in Dole never felt better.
On the homeward stretch girls. Missing you tons and sending loads of love.
