Day 04, 29 October 2019 – Acclimatization
Every night after dinner we get a briefing of the next day from our fantastic guide team. This was an acclimatization day, which means to adjust to high altitude. We hiked up to 3880m above sea level and back down to 3400m to sleep.

From Namche Bazar we climbed about an hour to Syangbouche airport, the airport in the highest altitude in the world. All of a sudden, we were at the building site of Sagarmatha Next. Tommy Gustafsson (Swede living in Nepal) presented the project aiming to create a nexus for tourism, environment and sustainability. One of the initiatives is “Carry me back”, meaning people going back from the mountain will help carry some of the waste back down to Lukla. Very engaging!

From there we climbed 25 minutes to Panorama hotel where we had amazing view of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Amadablam and more. Breathtaking! From there we walked to Everest view Hotel for a cup of tea and amazing photo sessions. After tea we walked down to Khumjung (the green valley, not because of trees but because of the green roofs of the houses) for a lunch, and visited the Sir Edmund Hillary’s school & monastery. And then back to Namche Bazar for a hot shower and dinner with Tommy & his wife Angel.

Having started the day with poor sleep and headaches, we finished strong and everyone is in good mood and shape.
