Group having rest on the way to Nagakarsang Hill
After a long day travelling from Tengbouche to Dingbouche and having attained a height of almost 600 miters, the rest day or acclimatization day, was a welcome respite from the trail for our intrepid trekkers to rest. One of the rare luxuries that we experienced was the opportunity to sleep in till 7 am as opposed to the daily 5 am wake up call. After a good night’s sleep and a hearty breakfast, the team made their way for an acclimatization walk and over a short period of one hour managed to gain an altitude of over 4700mtrs thus preparing the team for the daunting heights they would face in the coming days. With brilliant panoramic views of the entire Khumbu valley, the team had an opportunity to photograph not just Amadablam, but the elusive Makalu Peak in the neighboring valley. After the acclimatization walk, we were fortunate enough to attend a lecture conducted by the Doctors from the Himalaya Rescue Association regarding Acute Mountaineering Sickness, thus giving us an opportunity to address any concerns that they may have had. An early dinner and an early night, brought a comfortable and relaxed day to an end.
