Today we leave the trekking traffic which has dogged us from Lukla and take a left turn  (west) to the picturesque village of Thame (3800m). A gentle but sure climb to our destination, the adopted home of Tenzing Norgay and until recently the home of Apa Sherpa, Nepal’s most famous living climbing sherpa and holder of the Guinness Book of Records for the summits of Everest the most times. The air is getting much thinner and cooler – harbinger of things to come.
