Monday (4th November) a day of challenge – to reach Namche (3440m). 7 hours of focused trekking – this is our goal. The team comprises 4 Himalayan ‘novices’ from UK (Jon, Andrew, Richard and Dave). Jake and Bob have been this way before (one each). This is Steve’s fifth visit. The boys did great, they are strong, steady and dependable trekkers. The omens are very good for a successful expedition. The honours must go to Dave who has a fear of heights and had to suffer crossing numerous suspension bridges Including the highest in Khumbu (Larga Bridge). It is a long way down to the river below – fast-flowing glacial melt-water direct from Mt Everest’s southern icy slopes. The team arrived at Namche (Khumbu Lodge) in good time and in time, too, for a glorious hot shower and the promise of tuna pizzas and chips come evening time.
