Waking up in Lunden, at the Renjo Pass Support tea house, the windows were covered in frost. Outside we could hear the wild Tibetan snow cocks. We had a slow morning. There were also Red-billed Choughs on the ground outside the tea house.

Today was an acclimatization day in preparation for next day’s trek over Renjo-la pass. After breakfast we walked uphill 300m. Stayed there for a while and enjoyed our guide teaching us about meditation. Then walked back down for lunch. The weather was beautiful during daytime. On the way we passed lots of yaks and noks, grazing on what grass they could find on the slope. We also saw Snow pigeons flying around.

After lunch we had free time to relax and explore the small village. A spontaneous yoga session was held by one of the trekkers in the field behind the tea house. Later in the afternoon some of us went for a walk around the village. We witnessed yaks being brought down from the hills. One of them enjoyed rolling in sand before heading down.

Dinner was had at the same tea house at 6pm so we could go to bed around 8pm in preparation for the next day’s early start.
