Wednesday the 4th of April.

We start of a little early because we wish to summit Kallapathar.
After lunch in Gorek Shep, we decide that 5 of us do not feel prepared to push so hard today. They therefore go directly to EBC. The other 4 go a hard uphill toward Kallapathar. We get some great pictures of Mt. Everest before the clouds move in. Shortly thereafter, the clouds move in hard. Seth and David decide to switch to a path directly toward EBC and Jordan and Cody still push on to summit.

The path that Seth and David are guided by Ngima Sherpa has been marred by 2 different landslides. The going was very difficult and Seth and David were very glad that they had such a remarkable guide!

Ngima sends radio instruction to Ghanshyam to avoid this route. Unfortunately for them, that means that while they were giddy with their summit, they had to go back to Gorek Shep and then walk to EBC. What a long day for them!

Everyone was delighted with base camp. The MAI team fed us very well with seasoned chicken sizzlers, potatoes, and yummy vegetables! The views of the Khumbu glacier, Pumare (the killer mountain), Nuptse, and other mountains and hills were amazing!!
